Duration: 14-16 July 2023

Jointly organised by the Paros Festival and the National Gallery Alexandros Soutsos Museum

Renowned Greek photographer Maria Chroussaki (1899-1972) travelled almost everywhere between the 30s and the 50s, capturing much of the Greek rural environment with her photographic lens. She travelled as a volunteer nurse for the Greek Red Cross and was an active member of the Hellenic Travel Club and the Hellenic Photographic Society. The photographer captures the local communities, their rites and customs, the landscapes, the landmarks and architecture while exploring the native culture.

The exhibition, which will be hosted at the Aegean Center for the Fine Arts, will be presented a series of unknown photographs by Maria Chroussaki, from her visits to Paros in the 1930s and early 1950s, from the creator’s archive, which belongs to the National Gallery- Alexandros Soutsos Museum.
